It is now replaced with deselect, which is fine, but you could always just tap anywhere else to do that anyway.
So it feels like a pain to have to open the layers in order to delete something. It would be great if the delete button returned, or if there could at least be an option to have it under the UI settings. OMG – I bought this suite of apps as soon as I found out it was available. This browser is no longer supported. From the makers of Affinity Photo comes this pro-grade graphic-design tool, reinvented for iPad. When adobe dropped the ball HEAVY, Affinity picked up the pieces, something serious; helping real creatives to bypass greed and maintain ownership of our creativity. This makes 0 sense. I have to close the program and go back into the file, mess around with numbers etc. Also when turning something to curves, like letters, it seems there are two parts now.
I used to be able to break an anchor, to a letter, lets say, and as I deleted the anchors, the two parts of the letter, would be truly disconnected. Now the letter stays connected, regardless of breaking it; how I have no idea. Workflow is seriously impeded. Adobe Illustrator is a design software that is centered around vector design. Illustrator is available as a subscription , part of the Adobe Creative Cloud.
You can create artwork, icons, posters, etc. You can use this software to draw, mix, and refine designs to create something spectacular. Adobe has made a mobile version called Adobe Illustrator Draw, which is one of the best graphic design apps out there. To draw, you can use the shaper tool and create vector shapes.
Geometric shapes can be added to other outlines and can be moved, reshaped, and scaled. Even the fonts in the software can be manipulated according to your needs by adjusting their weight, slant, or width. For beginners, Adobe provides professionally designed templates to save time. The user interface of the program is helpful, but there is a steep learning curve to get good at illustrator.

Thousands of icons, illustrations, and photos are available right inside the app. Unlike Figma, Lunacy is not addicted to the internet, and most of its features work offline. If you prefer online collaboration with fellow designers, it is also possible.
Unlike Sketch, which runs only on macOS, Lunacy natively handles. The interface of the app comes in 21 languages. It is an excellent tool for web and mobile app designers, social media marketers, bloggers, copywriters, teachers and students, everyone who needs pro-looking pictures in a short time.

Or you can craft custom photos by mixing backgrounds and cut-out photos of people, animals, objects, and even AI-generated faces. You can also get creative by mixing illustrations and pictures for a beautiful collage. If you need a little inspiration, start with basic templates and edit them beyond recognition.
No special skills are required. The Affinity Designer is a cheaper alternative to illustrator, which is especially suitable for someone who is in the early stage of design career. The software is known to work smoothly, which can improve your workflow and make you express your creativity more freely.
You can move and zoom your artwork at 60fps; see the gradients, effects, and adjustments changing live along with the transforms and curve edits. Affinity Designer lets you work on both vector and raster workspaces, and you can switch between them easily. This software can work on any device, and you can create unlimited artboards within it. Affinity designer provides a graphic design app for the iPad with the same features offered on the desktop versions.
You can find a wide range of toolset in the program which can be used to achieve a high level of accuracy and productivity. The grids and guides are fully customizable, where you can change the spacing, sub-divisions, gutters, angles, etc. Another powerful feature of Affinity designer is that you get floating-point accuracy by zooming your artwork, even by more than a million per cent.
Another software by Adobe that can be used to create designs is the Adobe InDesign. This graphic design software is used primarily in the publishing industry because you can design magazines, info sheets, books, posters, interactive PDFs, brochures, etc.
The properties panel has been redesigned to give you more intuitive control over the tools. The Sensei technology integrated into InDesign makes the automatic arrangement and resizing of images. Beginners can quickly learn this graphic design software because it has a low learning curve.
To work with other members of your team in creating a design, you can use Adobe InCopy. The Creative Cloud Libraries can help you share text, colors, and graphics with other members. With this graphic design program, you can create professional vector illustrations. There are powerful design tools to help you work faster and smarter.

It’s technically not a feature. It’s another way easier way to work with paths like subtract and add but combined. A feature would be selecting a symbol and creating a virtual grid to be editable. So, Affinity could just make a way to edit a path more dynamic and it would be a Shape Builder tool.
Like Vectornator, a free vector tool tha let you trace a raster image and vectorize it in layers within the same app. There are many different ways to manipulate a vector path because is not an image in reality. I am confident that Affinity Suite Version 2 would be a nightmare for Adobe in many ways and I mean in ways they will need to copy Affinity and follow their new way of handling graphics and photography.
I discovered this app today. It’s called Vector Styler and basically includes all the features we want on Affinity Designer. Maybe a peak on this app can show affinity a way to achieve these shape builder and manipulation tweaks. I download the free trial and it is impressive. The AI import and export option is very well implemented. I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.
That’s awesome you discovered Vectorstyler! I was introduced to it by someone on the affinity forum when I needed features and tools still missing from designer. A vectorstyler “fan base” has started here in affinity because it allows them a solution to what affinity lacks without returning to adobe. I always felt like affinity alone was the best hope to shed adobe, but the glacial pace of development and lack of advanced features left me searching for a better solution.
In my opinion, affinity will never catch up to what vectorstyler offers, in part because Vectorstyler is already so far ahead, but also because they are not built the same way. Affinity is like a screwdriver while Vectorstyler is like an impact driver. Designer is simple in layout and tools while Vectorstyler is filled with advanced features. The more you use vectorstyler, the more you realize how deep it really is. I’ve found vectorstyler to be more suited for me as a power vector user, but can still appreciate the simplicity of designer, the way I can incorporate photo and publisher, etc.
If you are a power vector user, you might find it worth having vectorstyler around even as a side program to using affinity designer.
It’s taken nearly a decade for affinity to get common features assuming the 2. Using vectorstyler gives you all those missing common features on top of thousands more. As a professional vector designer, dollars is cheap when considering the level of features gained.
You also get to be a part of the maturation of the program in the Vectorstyler forum. I got to tell you. Your comment makes me going to buy it as soon the trial ends. Maybe I wait for Affinity 2. I started with Photoshop 5. Illustrator was really bad and QuarkXpress was complicated. That day I just decided quit all Adobe products and was struggling to keep up with my clients at that time Hilton, Southwest Airlines, etc. I was using Acorn to replace Photoshop and then Pixelmator, for a year my work was going well with Pixelmator, Graphics and Swift Publisher but they were too limited and my excuses were fading away.
Until Affinity! What a great day man! I mean, I bought them all including the iPad versions. My workflow has been amazing and the apps never failed me! It scares me the future of Affinity. I received an email with a questionnaire and the word Subscription was mentioned a couple of times. Finding a good publisher will be hard though… maybe Swift Publisher is in better shape now.
I assume you are talking about the official email from Serif. Could you provide its wording here? The email was about participating in a Survey. Ask people about ‘subscriptions’ and tabulate the responses. If you read these forums you’ll come away with the idea that ‘subscription’ is not the way to go. Survey your current customers and you may find that a majority are in favour of the idea. Basic market research stuff. I own every affinity product on every available platform as well.
I love affinity overall but there are too many missing features that impede my ability to work professionally with it.
I hope affinity 2. The thing is, even if affinity adds those common features in 2. There are also major issues with dirty geometry with Boolean operations. For bucks, I can purchase vectorstyler and use it alongside designer and to get anything done. Like affinity, you own the main version of Vectorstyler in perpetuity.
I still have a copy of adobe cs6 that I use occasionally for rare things I cannot do in Vectorstyler or designer but I’m looking to fully retire it asap. For all my excitement about vectorstyler, I still love and root for affinity to succeed. There’s a certain elegance and simplicity and alternative feel to affinity as compared to Photoshop and illustrator and Corel, etc. I love the ability to use the same file within all three programs naturally. Admittedly, using vectorstyler makes me love affinity more than I would otherwise because I can afford now to patiently wait for 2.
I primarily use vectorstyler for my vector work but it’s nice to have options. Nice analogy – I’d prob define the comparison as: Designer: nice, slick, snappy, Swiss Army knife “with all the tools you need to get the job done” according to the Designer sales blurb ie a pen knife, screwdriver, a spoon, a little saw, corkscrew, bottle opener Freehand was great – Quark was solid yet minimal set of tools, then the Adobe Design Collection arrived – I also thought Illustrator was horrible until v10 then I began to tolerate it.
Lets just hope Affinity V2 brings a more complete vector toolset, but I agree with Boldlinedesign on the point of VectorStyler catchup, as VS is evolving and improving on a weekly basis – there’s a decent sized learning curve, but once you get your head around it, you realise the power.
